Deppei hatch and a question

juvandy Aug 04, 2008 04:24 PM

I just had my first clutch of 14 d. deppei hatch this weekend. The parents are both high yellow, though the male is a bit two-toned with white down his neck. What is the chance that there will be some variability in the offspring?

I'm trying to remember who I got the parents from. It was a guy at Daytona in '03 who was the only person I saw there who had any deppei of any kind. I believe his name was Craig (first or last) and he was from Virginia.

Anyhow, here's a pic of mom with freshly laid eggs. I'll get pics of the hatchlings up here soon- most of them have some amount of striping down their sides kind of like this girl.

these guys can be really quite variable. sometimes called the "ugly ducklings" of the pit world. I have also heard them referred to as "variable pinesnakes because they can be quite variable even with in a clutch.........

The female is beautiful..........

What a sec...is that a Deppei? And while we're at it, any chance for this '07 to color up? (I know, I already asked this in another post but no body answered) Thanks
