I gutted that room, and saw no sign of them There are LOTS of house geckos and anoles, but no collareds. I can only hope now that they escaped to the outside where they have a chance at a good life if they survived the flood yesterday. There are plenty of bugs and dandelion out there. The only other possibility is that they crawled into one of a few cracks in the wall. The foundation shifted in the last year or two and there are spaces that lead under the house and between the walls. That wouldn't be so good.
I will keep shining a spot on the floor for awhile, but I'm afraid they're just gone. I feel so sad and so stupid!
Ya know they are easy to miss right now as they are cold and their color is darkish and blah like they get when sleeping, it's so easy for them to crawl in somewhere and ya just are not spotting them. Don't give up, keep the light on.

How about a spot lamp near the escape room, but outside? I have lost lizards before and always found them within hours, mostly, or the next day. I know it looks bad and you have a hole in your stomach, but try walking around in the morning and looking anywhere the sun hits. Be silent, stop frequently and listen, and just "follow your gut". I have sometimes searched the yard over and over, and then thought, "where is the one place I could believe they could go even though it looks impossible?" Then, go there. Move debris. Sit out there and wait. I wish you luck!
There is a big open field behind my townhouse, and it was flooded by the storm yesterday. If they were out there, then I hope for their sakes that they headed for higher ground.
I will keep looking and hoping. I walk that field every day to pick flowers for the herbivores, and I have a kid coming to help me tomorrow. I'll move the tank stands and have a really good look under them.
Well, I hope you find them under furniture! But in the mean time, look at whatever could be considered "higher ground" and especially anywhere that gets good sun. Good luck!
Thanks. I will. I am out there every day working, and am always keeping my eyes peeled.
They were more like these Easterns that I rehabbed, particularly the one that came closest to dieing. He is so tame and calm that I can sit and have conversations with him. If he jumps off me, he immediately turns around and climbs back on when I offer my hand. Today he even looked me right in the eye and head bobbed at me!
If it were him lost, I would almost expect him to run up my leg at some point.
I'll keep looking.
Hi,
You all don't know me, but I've been watching this forum a lot because I'm setting up a tank of new Collared lizards.
Just wanted to relay a story about not giving up on a lost baby. A few years ago some punk kids from down the street broke into my house and stole my television. They also opened the door to one of my python enclosures that held my biggest baby, a rather large carpet python named Escondito. I came home to find him gone and was very sad and depresed and worried about him. I serarched for several months and finally gave up on ever seeing him again. Six months later, when cleaning my basement, I found him! He was hiding in a corner behind a box, cold but none worse for wear! I warmed him up and fed him, and he has thrived. I had given up, but I found him.
So, don't give up hope!
Thanks,
Hayseed
Glad to have you here with us
it was nice to hear your story and to console Rosebuds , that's what I think, I told her to keep looking.
Glad you found your guy, love his name. Ever get that TV back, lol, or the PUNK/S that broke in?
Put your feet up, and stick around, great bunch here. We may not be perfect but we do love our lizards!

Thanks Eve,
I was so glad I found my big boy. He's a special one to me.
This is, indeed, a really great forum. I've been reading a lot and learning a lot here. I have a few Collareds on the way, and I already have a few questions for you all. I'll post those separately.
Thanks!
Hayseed
