What were the parents of it?
that is the best way to tell if it could be carrying another gene, if one of the parents had a simple ressive gene it is possible and the only way you would find it is by breeding it to another with that ressive gene in it as well.

Here are pics of mum and dad, dad is also the offspring of mum.

what line of Pastel is that? I want one of them...bad!!! Grade A all the way! WOW!

Interesting, something is going on with that baby pastel.. Do you also have a pic of the original Pastel father that produced the Pastel that came from your odd female mom? In otherwords the grandpa Pastel to your cool baby Pastel, got his pic too? Anthony McCain..

ChrisJonesUK Aug 07, 2008 02:27 PM

Just a normal graziani line pastel

anthony james mc Aug 07, 2008 03:13 PM

I would say the mom is the one putting that odd look into that baby Pastel.. Did any "normals" come out looking like mom? More breeding will need to be done but it looks well worth the effort I think, Anthony McCain.

Thanks for your comments. None of the normals have mums patern but one is very brown in color like her.

your female is doing SOMETHING. Can't really pinpoint exactly what though. I don't know what already established morph she could be compared to, based on the offspring she's producing. It's rather subtle, but without a doubt, present.

I would say her genetics fit nicely with the pastel gene, so more breeding back to her son.I have one of his sisters ready to breed this coming season but she doesnt resemble mum much, only the brown coloring rather than black.

Looks genetic, selective breed that animal for sure,

BTW, I like your original question, Does anyone think?

Good luck with breeding that project, should be interesting
