i have 4 FBTs in a 10gal tank. 2 are adults and the other 2 are still youngsters. Both adults are green and one of the youngsters is brown. The fourth one however, used to be a light green, now, its a darker green. The color change was very noticeable. I know that some or all are male because i hear them "barking". LOL. But i have noticed lately that the other frogs are always "on top" of the color changing youngster. Here are my questions.... Why did it change color? Will the brown one turn green or stay brown? And finally how can i tell the difference between male and female since i have two different size frogs in the tank.

Some extra information that may help::::
The color changing youngster seems to be a bit more full looking than the other toads. The other three look anorexic looking, but they all eat about the same amount of food.

I have two firebellies, both are male, and my "fat" toad is also changing color, from a kind of lime green to a duller, darker green. The color-changing toad is also the only one of the two who sings, and he also tends to try and mate with the other male, who doesn't seem to enjoy it much but puts up with it...

I also don't know what the color change is from, I am speculating that maybe one of the toads is getting too much light and has a sunburn of sorts, or maybe they change color before they molt??? I have no idea, these are my first firebellies, so I'm also looking for info like you are...
