If you are handy there are a ton of DIY racks on the internet. It is really not that hard. Probably even find it on Youtube but who knows. There is a LOT on there!! Lee
There are a lot of garbage ideas out there, I will give you that. You won't know which are terrible, or only moderately terrible, until you spend the money and try them.
A keeper and collection would be much better off going with an excellent professional rack system like the Visions...

Vision racks are the least expensive per tub, easiest to assemble, easiest to move, and cheapest to ship. And for the animals, it has an almost endlessly adjustable heating system and nigh perfect ventilation-without the need to spend hours drilling holes in tubs! How could you go wrong?

the black racks on the right are good but the owner has vanished no word from him. i have some of them they are ok ,but alot of heat iron holes for air.vision racks look to wide open for snake, they also do not have a solid back on them. how is the heat on them and what size flex watt does it take.do they come complete.give me some input thanks mark.
It is really easy to close off the sides on a Vision Rack in order to give your snakes a darker, more closed off environment.
There are grooves facing both up and down around the entire perimeter of each panel which allow you to slide poster board or thin plastic sheet in as a visual barrier.
Easily installed, easily removed and a very low cost solution.
in a Vision rack is much easier and more flexible than flexwatt. The bottom of each rack is set up with notches that accept heat cable (provided with the rack). you can use as much or as little cable on each level as you want/need!

Do you offer the sliding sides etc for the racks already pre cut to size? I need some hatchling racks and I am debating which Rack to purchase.

"Do you offer the sliding sides etc for the racks already pre cut to size?"
No, we don't offer it because it is so cheap for anyone to do it with poster board.
I would have to charge a premium for it and very few people would want to pay for that premium when they could easily do it themselves and save the dinero.
Do you have the specific sizes for the panels that each rack would need or would they vary?

I have a vision hatchling rack, and have been pretty happy with it. It heats well, holds humidity relatively well, JUST BE SURE TO PUT ON THE SIDE AND BACK GUARDS.
I missed a middle rack tub, did not place a back guard, so the tub could slide all the way in, and out the back. I put my Pastel Het Clown male baby, back in the tub, sure enough, slid it in, looked uneven compared to my other tubs, started to pull it back in, and thought better about it, and checked the back first. Yup, little guy had about 3 inches of his head and neck out, if I would have pulled it back in, end of snake.
I do like the racks, just a little assembly time.

Dave,
Thank you for the information, very helpful,
Glad that little guy is ok,

I don't know exactly what it is off hand, but it is somewhere around 6" x up to 35" if you want to block off the whole side of the rack. Some people only block off the back half of the tubs, so the side panels would only be about 17" x 6".
The hatchling tubs are shorter, so the side panels will be shorter, (approx 4"
.
Have you thought about making a double wide hatchling tub like a short version of the v-35?

don't marry the cow when the milk is free when the milk drys up it's time for a new cow
would sell!!!! I talked to Scott(Vision) about a year ago and he asked me if it would be something that would work for me. I said YES! I think he was considering making that type model.
I have both cb 70 and 32 qt. in my breeding room-- and like them. I have 2 hatchling racks in my "nursery room" and LOVE them!!! However, I have humidifiers that keep humidity at no less than 60%. In SoCal it can get dry from time to time. Scott, make the double- wide shoebox!!!!

Yes, that and a more narrow baby tub that will allow 6 baby tubs in a row, rather than 4 per row.
Since we are putting in our vision rack wish list:
I would really love a working shelf that will fit on the front of the rack. Would really help for quick tub change outs, feedings, etc. Right now I'm using a piece of peg board that I wedge in the space at the top of the tubs but something a little more sturdy and secure would be the bomb!
Thanx

Tosha,
That would be cool. I've never thought of that. At 6:45 in the morning, I am not sure exactly how we could safely affix that kind of shelf.
Anyone have any ideas?
Can we expect to see these anytime soon? Like maybe in two weeks at THE show?

don't marry the cow when the milk is free when the milk drys up it's time for a new cow
No, sorry.
Those molds cost a small fortune and with the current high prices of commodities, I don't have any "extra" cash to drop on new tooling.
Well that is unsatisfactory!! You just wait, I am going to bring my body guard to talk to you about this. Here is his pic so watch out LOL.

You don't loose that many teeth if you scared to scrap, oh wait he is from Kentucky.

Covering the vent holes is the easiest way. There are a number of options for that. You can also increase the size of your water dish.
Hi, I got a vision rack in as part of a breeding loan. I am using it and it is better than anything I have built BUT 4x's more expensive. IF you have the money get them they are nearly genius at work. MY only issue with them is almost too much ventilation and if the humidity is a little low (ie: winter) they will have some shed issues.........The ARSs I have seen in action and are genius but you pay a lot more for them......ARS thought of everything!! Even built in water bowl holders in the drawers.....BUT best value on the dollar for professional racks have to still be the Visions. They are great.....SPECIAL NOTE!!! When installing the heat cable they tend to be on the short side (in my ltd experience) so do not allow a lot of slack between levels so that you can heat all of them......You might also review Boaphile plastics too. GOOD value Prices include shipping. Nice racks, but just not as handy without rollers etc. .........While you are buying look into the herpstat by spider robotics. BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK at least for the proportionals. VERY PLEASED WITH MINE!!!!! Have used rancos big apple helix. herpstat comes out on top IMHO plus all units are Night drop capable and only requires a second temp probe. Lee
