clogged pores

brit59brat Aug 07, 2008 05:34 PM

My male bearded dragon seems to have clogged femoral pores. I wasn't too worried because I read this is normal for a male. However, they never seem to unclog. Occasionally one will come out and it isn't whitish like I've read it should be. It seems to be a hard golden-pinkish color. Is it normal to have all of the pores clogged constantly or should I somehow unclog them and clean them? Or am I being too much of a mother hen? lol.

sounds like your boy is just fully mature...the pores can exude a thick waxy brownish substance which marks his territory and attracts females. If they seem to swell up bigger than normal, then it could be a problem. Pictures of them may help to determine if its normal or abnormal.

Best way to get clear pictures is with a macro lense equipped camera. Have a friend hold him or take the picture. Or lay him down on a clear surface and take the picture underneath, though watch for flash glare...
