Morph Identification

wink0083 Aug 08, 2008 08:22 AM

I bred a pair of what I was told were normal motley's together this spring and their eggs just started hatching. When the first one came out I thought it looked a little bit odd but since it was by itself and I had no frame of refrence I thought my eyes were just playing tricks on me. Then some more started coming and the first one definitely looks anery to me. Last night one hatched that looks like it might be a ghost, but so far none of the rest look hypo so I'm not sure.

The coolest part is that I definetely had a pair of motleys het for something, but the worst part is that the female escaped a month ago and there's been no sign of her since so I might just have a het male...anyway, enough with my sad story, it makes me sick to think about it. Any confirmations or denials of my morph identifications?

Sorry to hear about the female getting away,......we all know what that feels like.

Anyhow, yes, it looks like your so-called "normals" were at LEAST het for anery and hypo, because the first pic certainly looks to be a motley anery, and the second looks to be a really nice example of a motley ghost,....followed by a normal colored motley.

Depending on how many more babies are due to hatch, you may be in store for a few more surprises!..LOL!

Hope you find the mother soon!

best regards, ~Doug

11 more eggs in the tupperware and all but 1 of them look good so I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the feedback (and the sympathy...).

Man, that middle one is light.
I thought snow at first until I looked at the eyes.
It may be because it hasn't had it's first shed but that little ghost wouldn't leave my house if it hatched here. There's just something about it, it's got a different look I like.
Got pictures of the parents?

AS Doug said, I put that egg by itself and it emerged from its shell this morning. That made 21 babies. I was discarding the used eggs and found one that still had weight to it. I put that one next to the other egg. This morning a head popped out of this egg. He has not emerged but he makes 22 snakes!! After more search I found a third egg with weight, but this one has yellow oozing from a large crack. I guess i will wait another few days because the fun may not be over. I just wanted to let you folks know.

Here's a picture of the father taken about 15 minutes ago. He's three years old and this is his first clutch. I don't have any pictures of the mother on this computer but her coloring was the same except she had the motley circles all the way down to her tail. They both have completely white bellies until just before the tale where it turns orange.

So far I've gotten 4 normals, the anery and the ghost. 10 more to go, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for more excitement. I'll post the results when it's all said and done.
