Good litter this morning.

Jeff Clark Aug 08, 2008 10:59 AM

I had a nice litter of baby Brazilian Rainbows this morning. 25 healthy babies, 5 stillborn and 5 slugs. The mother of this litter is RD and she produced a nice litter last year. She is from Dallas Zoo bloodlines and I got her in a trade several years ago. I think she is now around 7 years old. I detected lots of fetal heart tones in her over the last month. She was bred by a Colling male as late as march 30th and so I was surprised that she had this litter this early. She has looked enormously gravid for some time and I did expect big numbers from her. At this time I have one more that is enormously gravid looking and eight others that look and act gravid but are not so enormously blown up looking.

Congradulations I can't wait to see what you have produced this year. It looks as though I will have to make room for one more.

Jeff,

Congratulations on the nice litter! Post some pics if/when you get a chance.

Also good luck with the other potential mommas.

Thanks,
Ed
