I just wanted to clarify this. There seems to be some discussion about this subject. I'm not looking for whethers its morally wrong I want to know what the LAW says. It's out of Washington State. I haven't been able to find anything online, and would appreciate any evidence. AKA links to a .gov or .org website.

The laws that you need to be most concerned with and look at are your particular state laws(usually found at State Department of Natural Resource or Fish and Game, web site, ect), and any local city ordinaces regarding the keeping of snakes, but I really doubt you have anything to worry about with them. What state do you live in?

No it is not illegal to sell them.

It is to collect them en mass from their natural habitat and sell them. Even if a permit were to exist, there certainly has to be a limit on how many can be collected.

The saddest part is they have such a small range, they call them Puget Sound Garters for a reason.

Its also a violation of the Lacey act to ship them via US mail.

When you say US mail are you refering to USPS or all mail carriers?

Express MAIL that your mailman brings.

UPS is a bad idea, FED EX is the best sane way, and DHL is known for delivering boxes of rotting carrion.

All reputable reptile dealers ship Fed Ex.

But US mail is mail, no matter how it is delivered.
