I prefer sliding glass doors for just about any reptile application short of for living bearing snake species that produce tiny young. I like the open look and that I can easily remove the doors completely for cleaning and/or moving the cage. The fact that the doors can be slid just slightly open for adding/removing prey items or cleaning is also a benefit for many of the species I have kept.

They can be a bit of a pain for insect eaters but even then I felt it was a worthwhile tradeoff. I would just fold lengths of paper towel and shove it in the overlap area when feeding insects that could crawl out. Some people fill this area with self adhesive insulation strips and this does work well, but is always visible.

I don't like hinged doors that swing to the side or down. Just a strong personal preference on my part. But they do have their place and many people prefer them. Nothing wrong with that.
