Hey everyone! Picked up this little girl over the weekend. She is my first gray-banded. She's great aside from being nocturnal and sleeping all day! Here's some pictures.
She has a big appetite so far. How often should I be feeding her?

Forgot to mention that the breeder said that she hatched last august. Seems tiny for a year old?

No, that is usually the typical size for an 07. Mine currently is the same size. In fact yours is slightly bigger than mine.

Usually, feeding is about 2 times per week for a young snake. Once a week is just as great and sufficient.

What locality is she by the way?

Haha thanks for the replies. Great list you put together!
I purchased her from the berks reptile show in Pennsylvania. I believe she was born in New Jersey
Have to keep myself away from the shows for a while since I live in a tiny studio apt. I can only dream of having a snake room. How wonderful!

Thanks again
Katie

1. Alterna are slow growing animals.
2. Alterna can be finicky eaters.
3. Alterna should be fed at least once every two weeks. Once a week is desirable if they will do it.
4. Alterna are somewhat slow growers. Some folks get there animals to breeding size in 3 years, but most take 4 to 5 years.
5. Alterna can change their color with age.
6. Alterna hibernate during winter.
7. Alterna owners tend to keep track of locality of their animals.
8. Alterna do strange things to their owners. Meaning may purchase or find one, then you decide to get another. Then another then another. Then you get an Alterna Tattoo. Then you make a snake room. Then you start buying everything in orange and grey.

Congrats on your first Alterna.

Best Wishes,

Steven

Hey! How are our kids? We are up to 11 weird shaped eggs and 4 good looking eggs. I think the WC female has 2 more in there and the f1 has at least 3 or 4 more in there.

The sad thing is that both received good amounts of calcium this year. OH well... just can't predict this stuff.

Hope all is well. Wish I could get out more. Have you been out lately?

Best Wishes,

Steven

Unfortunately, three look to have definitely gone bad and 1 is heading that way...7 still look very strong though, so my fingers are crossed...This is definitely my most anticipated clutch of the season so it's a little nerve-racking...I really hope we get a couple good pairs to hatch...When the first one pips, you'll be the first to know...

I have been out a few times, but you really haven't missed much. Valverde has been horribly dry...I have found a few of these this year, below being the most recent...
