car sick AFT???

alieliza Sep 04, 2003 08:01 AM

This may sound crazy, but is it possible that my AFT gets car sick? The day i got him (at six months old), from the White Plains show in July, it seemed as if he had spit up a couple crickets. (It looked more like whole crickets than poop) Then, two days ago i moved, and he went on a long car ride (3 hours) and spit up everything he had eaten before. He has never spit up in my care otherwise. Maybe it is that he wasnt heated for these periods of travel and didnt have proper heat for digestion?? or maybe he just doesnt like the motion???
I know it seems like a silly question, but im just looking for an answer.
Thanks.

The stress of the show and later the move is most likely the cause. For this very reason most people don't feed their geckos/snakes before taking them to a show. I made the mistake before my first show and fed my leo babies. One regurged during the trip to the show. Before I moved (18 hours) I made sure that nobody had eaten for a few days before. The result..nobody regurged.

It's not that he is getting carsick, it's the stress of something different. In this case being placed in a small container outside of his "safe" home.

I live a long ways from where ive purchased most my Geckos, eather a 4 or 2 hour drive. I ve had several do that but once home and they begin eating it has never occurred again. They should be fine.

I'm sure it was the stress from moving. If he was doing it all of the time i would be worried. My one female got so stressed her first season breeding that she regurgitated a few times too but once I put her by herself she was fine. She is also the only fat tail of my 25 fatties that doesn't like to be held.
