OT - Rosey Updates!!

aanata1 Aug 09, 2008 12:12 PM

Well, I finally, after months of fighting, got this snake back to good health. This was my hypo sonoran that arrived to me with burn scars and a URI that just wouldn't quit. Luckily, this is by far the sweetest snake in my lot, just as docile as can be, which is the strangest thing for a Sonoran. She went through 2 antibiotics, and we had a scare that her liver may have been shutting down when we had blood work done and her protein count was high. Anyway, I promised pictures months ago, but never delivered because she was just so sick. FINALLY, the vet and I agree the URI has been defeated. She still has some "debris" in her nostrils that is causing her to whistle, so we've increased her humidity and are trying to flush it, but when she opens her mouth, no red and no more whistling. I love this little lady to pieces!! The pics aren't great, but here she finally is (the pink shots are a bit more representative):

And also, I tried very hard to "play nice" with the breeder that sent me this snake, and I have no ill will, but I strongly discourage anyone from buying animals from Darrin Brasher!!

Hooray Rosey! I'm so glad to hear she's finally better. She was clearly meant to land on your doorstep, I'm betting she makes you some stunning babies to repay your kindness. Congrats to you both!

Thanks for all you advice and kind words of encouragement over the months with this one. I would have blindly followed the vet's advice if it wasn't for you guys, which may have done more damage to her liver than she could have handled, so THANKS to everyone that offered help. She is a sweet, beautiful snake, that I just love to pieces!
