I guess this would be a NON-HYPO mega?

shannon brown Aug 09, 2008 04:06 PM

There is no hypo in this clutch. The male was of coarse the triple het mega male and the female was a totally normal amel het for no other genes.Out of 9 eggs I hatched 7 amels one normal and then this.It is a normal but is showing the mega gene.
Now what? I have seen it on everything now in the line. And thats why my tri-color isn't a hypo.

Now I am just waiting for somebody to tell me this is nothing more than just a hypo.LOL.....

Mega and extreme are still confusing to me, visually what makes that milk show mega type visuals? The black looks a bit faded but other then that what am I missing?

Nice clutch btw!!

Thanks,

Jason, its hard to capture it but the snake has a brown or chocolate tone over its whole body.It has dark ruby eyes and if you just see the head it almost looks like a low end hypo.In person you would see.I will try and get some better pics. There is a total normal in the clutch I will get a pic of him and the normal and then you will see.

this will give you a better idea of how he really looks when he is in the cup with his sibling normal. The other 7 are tangerine albinos.

The comparison shot really shows off the differences, it looks as if the visual hypo has been layered over top a normal tangerine, or the snake is in the blue..
Thanks for the shots!!

Cool stuff going on here Shannon!

That one reminds me of this guy. We produce a few like this every year from Hypo to Hypo pairings and even from Extreme pairings. It's hard to believe some of them are even Hypos, but the truth is not all Hypos are clean and free of tipping.

A while ago I had suggested that tipping and the pattern associated with the tangerines were separate from being hypo. I felt hypo effected the intensity of the black, and the tangerine effected the tipping and pattern.

For years Anery's had considerable tipping, but almost always had a normal pattern of a narrow white (the most traditional pattern). Now we are seeing ghosts with a typical tangerine pattern, wide white bands, that are super clean.

You also can see it with albinos.

Just my 2 cents.

are too general of a term to describe many different "things" going on with Hondos...

I agree Joe, I have produced ugly and or tipped up hypos before for sure but the amel I used had no hypo blood in her.She is a animal that I produced in (02) from a pair I bought in (98) before there was ever even a hypo bred into the amel lines etc...
The (98) pair was produced By Steve Behling ( long gone now from the hobby)and he produced them from a pair he bought for 6k in (96) from Luise Porras.
So, I just can't see how it could be a hypo. But I guess weirder things have happened.
