What would you consider a good weight for a Mali to obtain before considering breeding. I have a pair (cb) that may be ready next season and I am considering a short "brumation" this winter.
Thanks for any help,
John

well i think it is about 100 and above. when i bred mine they were, female 150, male 300. the size of your male really doesn't matter but the female should be fat and healthy because she is the one who will by developing the eggs. My female was on the skinny side because i bought her while she was a gravid fresh import. She did not eat a lot while she was gravid but since i gave her a lot of calcium on the food she ate she turned out fine. Now i have 3 healthy hatchlings. one of them gave me a big scare yesterday but it is fine now and back to normal. I have heard of sucessful breedings and healthy clutches with females as small as 60 grams. I think 60 is kind of on the light side for a female but if your adult female has a thick tail and apears to be healthy then why not. I bought a breedable female from douglas dix and she is only 84 grams. I intend to breed her next year with my saharan male.
