This is the situation....Back on july 2nd My female dropped 5 eggs which one of them went bad a few days during incubation....which didnt surprise me because she coiled all of them but this one...anyway it is now day 40 and the eggs are rally veiny but due to this being my first clutch to try and incubate they were in a room that the temp fluctuated too much so some days they were sitting at 76-80 degrees (I know this is way too low) so about a week later I got them to a different room where they have been staying between 88-90 but one day for reasons unknown the incubator just stopped working and they were at about 72 for no more than six hours......so now on day 40 I see no real signs of development as far as seeing any embryos when candeled......So my question is do you think they will be fine and just take longer to hatch, or are they already gone?

Thanks for reading

There is always hope until they go bad! Try to get their temps stable and wait it out.

Good luck!!

How do you know there hasn't been real signs of development? You said yourself you are new. Until your eggs start to discolor and sweat, I would not worry myself. Either way, there is nothing you can do about it. I believe BP eggs can withstand greater temp fluctuations than many feel safe trying. If your eggs remain fine, don't be tempted to manually pip. Your incubation days are likely off with the temp drops. Try not to worry and keep us posted. Most of us like a happy ending - especially when it comes to reptiles.

we cannot answer this.......only the eggs know if they are ok or not...........keep them at 89 and see what happens......next time setup an incubator at 89-90 with proper moisture and good luck.........

have fun

If you are candling them while they are sitting in substrate such as vermiculite you won't see them because they are most likely sitting on the bottom below the vermiculite level. Don't sweat it...

While it is not advisable, you would be surprised how much transient fluctuation in temps Ball Python eggs can withstand. Because the temps have been a little low they may be a little late, but I am holding good thoughts that you will see little heads piping in a couple weeks.
Good luck
