WTF possibly having redleg...

dubumb Sep 04, 2003 10:58 AM

I just got 3 WTF's and when i got them, the one had an eye problem that is now clearing up. This frog seems to be always brown and isnt green when the others are. Upon examining him yesterday i noticed his belly was sort of pinkish. I am worried that maybe this is redleg. He is going to the vet on friday, but is there anything i can do in the mean time? I noticed that he didnt really move at all last night since he was in the same spot when I woke up. Also, is his constant brown skin something i should worry about? Their humidity is at 45%-50% and the temp is almost 80 in the day and about 72 at night...

thanks.

A little pink is nothign to worry about. Redleg will look something like broken blood vessels(think,a hickey) and it is suppossed to appear close to the frogs death. I have a Male WTF who is ALWAYS brown. Hell only turn green when hes hunting and very rarely for no reason. Sometimes he doesnt wake up at all, hell sleep in the same spot and not wake up for a day. He just likes to sleep in i suppose. But dont be fooled, my frogs sleep in the same exact spot every night, and your frogs probably do too, so he could be awake you just wouldnt know it. I would seperate him from the other two if youre really worried about him, that was you can keep a close watch on him. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your post, it eased me a bit...

It is only a tiny bit pink, nothing like a hickey, lol... I was worried cus I was reading a book and it was refering to red leg, and i guess i noticed the pink for the first time and got paranoid...

Good news is his eye is 99% better and he ate his crickets tonight.

Thanks again for your post.
