Pumpkin Pied!

jkobylka Aug 12, 2008 10:00 AM

Introducing the Pumpkin Pied! I'm thrilled to introduce the Yellowbelly Piebald. It is the result of a joint project between J. Kobylka Reptiles and my good friend Rico Feliciano.

Looking forward to the low-white pied version, but I'm loving all the whipped cream!

Justin,
Knowing that pieds often have orange spots how do you know you hit the odds on it with the YB? Awsome pied and very cool project.

Having hatched out a good number of pieds in the past I can say that I'm confident in its genetics based on the look and color of the head, dorsal saddles and even the color of the underside of its chin...

...was the spot on its neck, immediately behind the head.
That axanthic neck-spot that every regular Pied has.

I DON'T see the spot.

The 'Axanthic' patch is yellow/orange?? cool..

Congrats on the new Pied cross!

I can't stand Pieds by themselves, but that one's nice! I think that's the 2nd or 3rd Pied cross this year that has caught my eye. Yellow Bellies are great.

Coldthumb Aug 12, 2008 03:04 PM

Congrats Justin,i think that's the third lucy type to be bred into pieds...The Russo line x pied combo have less pattern...and the lesser pied was all white...So the genes may be against you on a lower white one,but good luck to you nonetheless!

I like the way the colored islands aren't outlined in black, very cool animal!

nice work Justin. Definate yb. Would like to see an lavendar albino ivory! Are you going to breed your male lav to any yb females?

jkobylka Aug 13, 2008 10:23 AM

That's a tempting pairing! I think I'm more likely to breed the yb pied to a het lavender female... that would be the start of a long term project!
