Micro scale(quad het)

pdragon1 Aug 12, 2008 01:48 PM

Crossing the recessive leatherbacks to the codominant leatherbacks has produced leathers with even smaller scales. The scales are no longer uniform throughout. Instead, they are regular sized(normal italian leather) around the spine area, and gradually turn smaller down to the side spikes. The ones closer to the spikes are about a third the size. Thanks, Josh

The first sentence meant to say: "Italian leatherback to the recessive leatherback". Sorry, I'm not a good writer. Josh

hy josh, the animal is really amazing. can i ask you more info? this animal you are showing is het for recessive leather? so this mean that already in the het form the two gene combine to create a more clear one? have you already done a recessive leath (omozigous form) italian leath?

however despite the genetic question, an incredible result!!!!

Hi allessandro, when I breed a recessive leather to a regular scaled bearded, some of the "het" babies appear to be leathers but not nearly as smooth as the recessive leathers themselves. Caliente dragons also noticed this when they bred Pancake(recessive leatherback). When the two leathers are combined(Italian and recessive), i'm getting basically an Italian leather that is also showing the reduced scales that a het recessive would show. That's why they have regular leather scales and micro scales. To answer your question, I haven't made the final result of an Italian leather to a recessive leather. I'll know more when I breed a quad het to a recessive leather and/or to another quad het. There is so much now with the beardeds that everything is becoming a gigantic spiderweb of genetics, lol. When I get my new monitor, I'll post some more pics. The test breedings have produced some interesting stuff. Thanks, Josh
