Eggs re-absorbed?

dacherrypicker Aug 12, 2008 02:33 PM

I have a couple leopard geckos that seem to be re-absorbing their eggs. They all have bred and were very visually gravid then slowly they go away. Any suggestions? I think I have the temps a little little bit high. About 85 on hot side and about 78 on cool side. They all have water dishes, calcium dish, and their hide spots with sphagnum moss. I just don't get it! Could it be the temps?

well ive never heard of it and dont know if it is temperatures or not but the hot side should be 88-90 degrees. it might be calcium, if their bodies dont have enough calcium to finish producing the eggs or something.

HUM... If they have calcium outside, I am not sure they are all re-absorbing the eggs. Perhaps they just had a nice meal and... you know... came out the orher way?

Re-absorbing eggs is a pretty dramatic thing. I mean, chickens (evolutionary relation to lizards) will even lay soft shells before they re-abosorb eggs. I get the feeling you may suspect they are gravid when they may not be... Take them to the vet for a regular check up. He'll even tell you if they're ovulating

Maybe they're too young to start laying?
