the idea to protect species is a good concept but I don't think the ESA works well at all. Think of all the animals that need to go on it (a lot) and think of all that have come OFF it based on sound science without political incentives (few). I think a successful ESA would (simply put) list animals, fix the problems and get them off the list.
In the mean time, think of how many restrictions it places on the average citizen, what you can and cannot do on public lands, maybe even private lands where listed species exist. From what I understand, you cannot even move an eastern indigo off the road to prevent it from geting hit without risking penalites.
All the while "progress" get a green flag to go ahead regardless of the law. The more I think about it, it sounds more like a plan that was never meant to work, but a cover to take away from you so "they" can have more land/ resources, hahaha.
anytime you mix politics and science don't expect to see any science in the finished product. in spite of that i DO hope florida does successfully reestablish the flow of the everglades.
Anyhow, the states should be responsible for these issues, not the feds.
