snake taxonomy!

anybody has any good pages on snake taxonomy? the main families...common names...and perhaps some pics?? would like to learn to recognize diff species of snakes.

Follow a link to our paper which provides as part of it a summary of the actual tremendous biodiversity within the 'colubrids'.

Here's another good site. It's got EVERY snake on it, as far as I can tell. There are usually some pictures too.

Yeah, its a good site but unfortunately Uetz has an anti-reptile as pet slant firmly on the front page. Its a regurgitation of the crap put out by the Smithsonian Society (widely accepted because they are the 'Smithsonian Society'... yeah... so?
