Hi there, I am asking this question of anyone I can find. Am thinking about getting a baby/juvenile Burmese Brown Tort but I live in CT (bleah). I currently keep 2 hermanns (since 1995), a russian (2004) and a redfoot (2000) so I have experience with tortoises. I was looking for something new and personable and have loved the Browns for some time. My concern is humidity here in CT. We run a woodstove for about 6-7 months of the year so it is DRY. I do have a misting system set up for the redfoot and keep her on cypress so it holds the moisture. Humidity wouldnt be much of a problem when the brown is small as an enclosure is easy to cover up to keep humidity in. Its when the tort gets bigger and is in on the floor/open air enclosure that I worry. With any luck I might live in a warmer, more humid locale when a baby brown gets big but not getting my hopes up. Sooo, any advice appreciated, particularly from anyone who keeps the browns in the north.
Thanks!
Carole
