I know better than to feed live mice. But

Yvonbug Aug 14, 2008 01:13 AM

I normally feed frozen-thawed mice to my Howie, but this time, I happened to locate someone close by my home who was raising mice as feeders. So I got 5 of them and Howie was having a great time hunting them down and eating. Until he got to the last one. He got bit. About 4" back from the head. It looked like a small bite at first, but then a while later, when I took him out for a stroll in the grass, I noticed that the bite had swollen up. Will the swelling go away? Or should I put something on it like Hydrogen Peroxide? He wont die from the bite, will he? Could he?

How long did you give after he ate before you got him out and no he will not die it could scar tho.

Hi!
Howie should be fine. The swelling should go away within a few days and the only way he could die from it was if the bite area became severely infected and nothing is done to treat it (very unlikely).

Dabbing a lil' peroxide on it with a Q-tip can help reduce chances of infection & aid healing.

Sounds like you've got my kinda luck. I pull stunts like that once in awhile and the odds almost always get me. What I mean is - "I know I shouldn't do this, but.... BAM!"

Hang in there!
