O/T rosy boa pics and post shed balls

Miloradovich Aug 14, 2008 09:13 AM

Well BRB season is done for me so here are some more O/T pics of recent happenings.
Here are my newest rosy boas. These four were all born here on Tuesday 8/12 from a first time mom. She did good. Mom is a high contrast albino and the father is an anery het albino, making these guys all 100% het snow.

And here is a post shed pic of my second clutch of ball pythons that I had posted the hatching photo of. I am surprised at how aggresive and ready to strike all these guys are. The first clutch has remained quite docile.

Thanks for looking.
Milo

Wow, all done, I'm just getting started, have a couple of females due any day and those have me pacing and checking the cages. Ann was bred by Pheonix and is due today, looks ready to drop at any second. Daisey was bred by Fluffy and is due in a day or two and I'm really anxious on that one!!!! ARGH, I hate the wait but sure do love the new babies!!!

I also have several more due but with later due dates so not watching them so closely.

Cool looking rosy boas, are you gonna breed them back to get snows?

LOL, pet rocks with attitude!!!

Good luck with all that you're waiting on. Sounds like you are just going to get busier and busier. I am anxious to see what your Daisy X Fluffy litter is going to look like. Are you going to be selling any of the offspring from that litter?

With these new rosys I'll eventually let someone else make snows from them more than likely. I am running out of room with all the rosies that I have now. I've got older breeder snow hets although I probably won't see snows this year due to giving a few girls off I didn't think were quite back up to size. In 06 I got 4 snows from 2.3 possible hets. Great odds really with a 1/16 chance. In hindsight I am really fortunate that each female had at least one or I might be still calling them possible hets. Last year, same breedings, I got zero snows but 5 aneries whereas in 06 I only got two. (I happen to really like the looks of the aneries so 5 was a big plus to me)
Here is an old pic of the 06's, a snow, albino, anery and normal at about 6 months old.

Not that I have to tell you, but be sure to post pics of all your newborns!

Thanks, Right now I am not planning on selling any of Fluffy's babies. Will have to wait and see exactly what I get then????

Understand that one all too well, having a lot already! Those Fluffy babies will overfill me I think!!!

Those older pics look like nice babies.

Well Dave, because I am such a nice guy, when you run out of space I can make room in my new baby rack to help you out. You'll just have to be sure to send some to me for safe keeping!
Just kidding, if you are like me, I'm sure you can get quite creative in rearranging the snake room to make space for new babies.

rainbowsrus Aug 14, 2008 03:08 PM

LOL, I currently have 279 individual baby slots. Excluding a few open spaces in the two racks being used for boas, I have 174 empty slots. When all those are full, then I can start getting creative and easily come up with room for another 70 plus without breaking a sweat.

If all that is full, then I can simply stack tubs in the boa room as it's warm enough w/out individual tub heat!!!

Nice boas and balls. And here I always heard that balls were quiet little non-moving balls of snake who rolled up in terror at the sight of anything moving (like say, a gnat). But it sounds like your balls intend to rule their roost!

Thanks Renee, and yeah, these are fiesty little guys. I am used to the whole idea of baby balls "balling up" too and not using biting as defense mechanism. That's why I am a little shocked that they keep trying to eat my fingers. My older ones will actually move about a lot and explore while being held and don't really act timid at all anymore. It just takes them getting used to being held and moved around I guess.

Your rosies are lovely, I love the colors.

The angry little ball pythons crack me up. The one lone 'bino looks funny among all of those naughty little beasties. Maybe they'll be fun pets since they dont turn into rocks when they're scared.

Nice babies - congrats!

Thanks Julie. Yeah, they're little balls of fury (I had fun with that pun there), except the albino, she stands out in more than looks as she is the most mellow of group too.

Milo,

Congratulations on the nice litters. Those rosies are really nice, another species on my wish list.

Thanks for sharing,
Ed

Thanks Ed. If you're interested in rosies check out localityrosys.com it's got pictures of quite a few of the different locality varietys that exist. There are a lot of different looks based on where they originate not even getting into the morph stuff. Be forwarned though, like potato chips you can't stop with just one.

natsamjosh Aug 15, 2008 05:51 PM

Hi Milo,

Thanks. I've actually been to that site, though not since I got
my Indigo. Before I decided on Jack, the short list included a rosy boa. But like you said, there are are so many looks and locales, so I would have had had another level of narrowing down what I wanted!

Just curious, do you have a favorite look/locale? I think I like desert type better than the coastal, but not sure about specific locales.

Thanks,
Ed

Milo,

Congrats again. Those are all nice, I LOVE those albino rosies.

All my baby balls seem quite docile also. All just shed and will soon be greeted with my first meal attempts.

Congrats again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
