Eggs losing their red color.

dacherrypicker Aug 14, 2008 02:18 PM

I have eggs about 40 days old or so. They were fine and very red filled with veins. Now they seem to be turning a little bit more yellow but I cant see in them very good anymore! Does this mean they were good and I killed them or does this happen?

Most of the time, if you have albino's or blazing blizzard, the red in candling dissapears shortly before they hatch. However, I have had eggs in the past glow red then glow yellow only to mold after 60 plus days. Only time can tell whether they are still in tact.

Yes they are albinos! Could be my eyes! Of course you cant move them to get a better candle.

why can't you move them, are they stuck to the container?
that happens sometimes.

after gecko eggs have firmed up a little after hatching they can be handled gently without any problem. it's probably best if you don't make a big habit of it as you could potentially cause one to hatch early from stress.
