anything's possible... just not necessarily good. why dont you want to feed your beardie bugs?

Have a large group of snakes here that only get frozen thawed mice. I don't like going to pet shops or having live insects come into the house. Trying to avoid reptile mites and other unwanted bugs. Beardies may not be for me, but thought I would ask. Thanks

Sometimes when I'm waiting for my next shipment of crickets to come in, I give my beardie those freeze-dried crickets by Flukers that you can buy at Petsmart. It took him some getting used to but now he actually prefers those over live crickets. I do it as an alternative while I'm short on live bugs, but I suppose you could use these, as well as the freeze-dried meal worms, or those other canned insects available. Although as someone above stated, this might not be the best option, but it is an option.

Adult bearded dragons don't need much insects but should still get some a few times a week. They can live on greens alone but will need pellets or something to get the insect protein they need.

If you can't stand insects at all, it is best you don't get a bearded dragon. There are plenty of other lizards who do not eat insects...uromastyx, crested geckos (and most other of the Rhac. geckos..they do eat insects but there is a fully balanced powdered food available for them that just needs water added. They don't need insects when fed this food)

If you like large lizards, many monitors will be happy to eat all your left over rats and mice your snakes refuse to eat. Green iguanas are also vegetarians but do get quite large.

Some bearded dragons will also eat canned insects (cooked in the can style) but not all will eat 'dead' insects. Also keep in mind that bearded dragons don't only eat crickets, they can eat superworms, silkworms, butterworms or hornworms as well.

Ok, Thanks all.

You can buy cups of superworms at most pet stores. Superworms are easy to keep, have no smell, & make no noise. Just put a slice of apple in for moisture regularly.
