You know - Rana draytonii use to be Rana aurora draytonii because they look extremely similar to Rana aurora (what use to be Rana aurora aurora) it turns out that Rana aurora is closer to Rana cascadae than it is to Rana draytonii.

Well last year was peaceful.

Maybe this year we will see a turn in the tides away from the Ball Pythons.

Some of the top breeders of PB's (NERD ect)pulled out due to the Florida 'special concerns' permit required.

Actually, Kevin pulled out to take a break. Not because of special concerns. Ralph Davis, VPI, and Bob Clark also decided to sit this one out as well. I think it's more about economy than the FL permit system. Trust me, there will be plenty of BPs. Just pray colubrids get a little more attention without some of the big dogs there. If we ever get to the point of needing permits for kings, we are in deep ca ca.

Hope everyone has a safe trip.

This is not what I heard.

And even if they say that I would not beleive them now. All those top guys pulling out the same year. YA right.

BPs are not included in the permit requirements. Only burms, scrubs, retics, green anacondas, and water monitors. I do believe I am forgeting one.

Bob Clark and those guys sell retics and burms as well as ball pythons.

besides i heard they waited this out to put on some pressure.

I would not pay an extra $100 for a snake while visiting Florida.

Well, you probably heard wrong. Kev will be there, but not set up. I think Kara will be setting up with her Bloods. Aren't they bigger than Balls? Like one person said, Balls on not on the list, so why should they back out? Doesn't make sense to me. On top of that, wasn't the FL. special concerns list in effect last year? A good friend of mine talks with RD on a regular basis and he said it's just going to cost too much this year. I also heard table prices went up. Don't know for sure, but they were sky high to begin with. Hearsay.

I am glad I got my licks in when I did, hahahaha...

I wouldn't be surprised if some well prepared colubrid guys do well at the show. Regardless of species, if people go home with snakes they actually like and want to keep the vendors and show will do better in the long run.

I heard three bills for a table?

The year of the hurricane was the best party ever. They had hundreds of people in some huge room in the Hilton, dozens of huge tables filled with people PARTYING. They wheeled in bar cars with snacks and we had a blast.
Of course going back to my other dive of a hotel with broken windows and no electricity at 3 AM sucked but never the less that party was one to remember. Tom Stevens

No hurricane Andrew beat me to it. They blame it on releases to make a political statement and a few extra bucks. Funny thing is boas have been around for a while and there is not near the uproar. I guess people don't like the idea of a 14 foot snake eating their little chihuahuas.

Here was the sunrise from our hotel room last year.
But these two photos will never come close to the photos Rainer got of the snake biting the bums. That photo should be put on a Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce brochure.
