the lone survivor

pweaver Aug 15, 2008 06:30 PM

This year I bred an Extreme Hypo male from my own line to a female Extreme from Mike Falcon's line. I was really psyched to see the outcome. Unfortunately I was running low on cage space and had the female in with another female. When I went to look for the eggs, I found that the other snake was enormous in size. That *#$%& ate the entire clutch except for one lone egg. Anyhow, this is the only survivor of that clutch. At least this extreme is a female, something still somewhat rare I've found.

btw, that's a knoblochi kingsnake that hatched out on the same day as her. Makes a nice contrast in colors.

Man that's a shame that happened. But the one that made it is killer!! Glad she made it.

1st clutch of nelsoni started pipping yesterday. I'll let you know what they look like.

ah, can't wait. They've been a long time coming. Hopefully they carry the looks of that female.

Wow!,....that blows in a big way Paul!. I'm guessing that no matter what you have to do to make space, you WON'T be doing THAT again!..LOL!....GRRR!

that's for darn sure. And not to mention that the female that ate the eggs is an almost-patternless female that I've been waiting years to breed and she didn't produce a single egg this year.
