Hi,

In Ontario, Canada, the government is about to legalize gay marriage. I must admit that I have mixed feelings about this turn of events and was wondering what the views of others would be on the subject.

I think it's about time. People should be allowed to be happy, and if making a public commitment to each other is part of that, then it should be for everyone.

wrong wrong wrong. I for one don't want to get a big thing going here but, it would not be a good idea to do a thing like that in this area. It's not about political rights it is about just being plain wrong in the ways of morality and religion. I guess the whole world is just going to hell in a handbasket. We want to take God out of schools now but introduce homosexuality. What is wrong with the picture here?????

i think gay marriage should be legal. everyone is entitled to be happy. i think it is unfair for gays not being able to marry. they are no different than strait people. they are still human just like the rest of us. i also think it is unfair to keep the 10 commandments in the courthouse. why not put up philosophies of other religions too? i don't get why so called "christians" or people of other religions get all pissy when confronted with people different from them. not everyone believes the same things. people have to realize this. anything that represents a specific religion or its beliefs should be taken out of our schools, courts, and the government all together. just because everyone don't believe in the same things. religion should be a personal thing and kept to themselves. gay people are no different than strait people. aren't they entitled to the same things? love and happiness. i don't see why not.

why do people want to take the easy way out and say "because the bible says so," why not actually look beyond that and find the real answer? i think one of the reasons man wrote the bible was to put fear into the people so the would follow their governments rules and beliefs. if not, they would be arrested. its all BS.

Very good answer. BTW, homosexuality has been observed in the wild, too. Swans, that mate for life, have seen male x male pairings, and the Bonobo chimps use sexuality to lessen tensions within the tribe across both sexes.

First off this then I am done with it in this direction. Marriage as far as I know was always something done under God in Gods presence. So how can it be wrong to say that gay marriage is wrong. SO let's take out the religion then. Seems everybody want's to use it as a point of attack. It is still wrong. It sickens me. I would not and don't take this lightly, I would not think twice about cracking two dudes skulls if they were ever to present such in front of me. Call me what you will I was brought up right and am not being vendictive about it, it is just the way it is. I don't want my children or their children exposed to such wanton display of idiocy. If you want to do something like that then don't do it in my area. To each his own I agree, I do alot of weired crap that I am sure alot of people don't like, well you know what I don't go do it in public! I don't rant and rave discrimination when the law or sociecty does not accept what I like. I don't know why we must press this on society as a whole it is not a subject that needs to be persued. By allowing it to be publicly shown is nothing more than someone saying "look what I did". If two persons of the same sex wan't to entertain themselves then do it in the privacy of your own cave. If it pleases you so much then enjoy it don't take perverse pleasure in the showing of each others choice in public like it is a trophy. In the utmost, don't do it around me. I don't want to see it and do not agree with it I do not no what is happening with this world today. I think about half of you crazy crackers need to be taken out and disposed of.

we are not introducing homosexuality. it has been around as long as mankind has been around. homosexuality has already been in our schools, government, jobs, and even churches!

But WHOSE morality and religion? I don't think we should be restricting things just because a particular group doesn't like it. Are we going to outlaw dancing because some religous groups frown on it? The gay marriage talked about is mainly about getting the same legal status/rights and responsibilities that a straight married couple has. I believe there are 2 kinds of marriage: a legal one, and a religious one. A church should have right to not marry a gay couple, but that won't prevent them from getting legally married.

PS: 'removed god from public schools'....Well, teacher-led prayer was removed, and I, for one, am glad have went to school when I did not have to recite the prayers of a religion I don't believe in.
Students -are- allowed to read the bible, pray, start Jesus clubs, etc. It's not like religous expression is banned.

Gay marriages I believe would be limited to some places not all. About my feelings on gay marriages I have mix feelings. It is a person's right to feel happy but everytime I see gay people I feel like there is something wrong, as if it isn't. Opposites attract but this isn't the case. I would say i'm opposed to gay marriage on so many lvls. I feel it is obnormal and it should be kept to one's self rather than expressed publicly. I know this sounds wrong in ways but I would really feel uncomfortable seeing more and more gay couplies walking around. They can do anything they want just keep it to themselves, don't make a big deal out of it. Gay people act femine, thats one thing that sickens me. I saw this gay guy with a pink size small shirt with tight pants walking around and everyone was staring at him and murmuring, I know i'm not the only one with this. I don't wanna sound like a hater but this is one issue I don't like getting too far. I would hate being adopted by a gay couple, I believe it would affect the kids in more ways than one. Opposites attract and I say stay that way or get nuteured/spayed.

In Germany the "Registered Long-Term Relationship" for homosexual persons became law about 2 years ago. It's a thing similar to a legal wedding with all the duties and rights that normally only married persons have.

"Marriage and family are special protected by the state" one can read in the German Constitution.

I don't think that homosexual persons should get the same rights in regard to wedding like families. Normally families are bringing up children, educate them and thus take care for the further existence of the state and the mankind.

The family should be special protected and fostered. But not a partnership that is of no use for state and mankind.

I think homosexual persons should not be discriminated, but their relationship should not be treated equal to the relationship of males and females who are founding a family and will have children.

why is it so wrong? you oppose to seeing gay couples in public? if gays aren't allowed to show their feelings in public then neither should we. whats the deal? do you really think people just wake up one morning and say "well thats it!!! im gonna be gay from here on out!!" no. it doesn't work like that. gays just don't wake up one morning and choose to be gay. they are born gay. its a proven fact. just like babies are born with genes to be skinny, fat, short, tall, blue hair or pink poke-a-doted eyes! heh

I have no problem seeing guy couples in the public. And I think they should be allowed to live their lifes without beeing discriminated.

But in my opinion the nucleus of our society and the mankind is the family (married couples with childrens) and should be especially fostered and protected.

The married couples need to have advantages on other kinds of living together like common-law marriages or gay couples.

How are you born with blue hair? Any how, I don't think people are born to be gay or not, it is their experience as they grow up that determines their future. And guess what, I bet many people do wake up sometimes and say "I'm gonna be gay from here on out!!". I mean, what do you know when your a baby. Its like saying, your born to be a rocket scientist. People say that to imply that they were raised well. Given a different environment, the outcome would probably have been different. You're not predestined, you make your own destiny. I say gay people are gay for some reason. If it is so "normal" as everything else, why isn't it accepted so easily? All I'm saying is, everyone has a problem with something, some sort of issue. This issue I'm not comfortable with. I still treat gay people with respect and humanity, not as if I'd go out and have a shoot out at a gay parade. If you say your not a hater, your lying, everyone hates something, I'm one of those people that confront my feelings instead of hiding them, if I don't like you, you'll hear from it face to face. I don't care if your gay or not, you want my respect, make it seem like you want it!

Its kind of amusing how you blabber on about what I said but making it as if you thought of it yourself. That was exactly what I said, you just rephrased it! I wasn't the one that said you were born to be something and it is you who would decide later on what you're going to be. When did I study genetics...lol. Little boy, it doesn't require you to be in a University to study genetics and the common basics. You start in biology/ adv. biology. There is where they tell you about genetics, and I studied it like last year and I happen to be very good and majoring in biology. And no sh*t I'm not a rocket scientist! Whoever said I was. I don't have a personal problem with "gays". But...what scares me? A brief look at history! Seems like all the great civilizations lasted for a few hundred yrs. and fell from Moral Decay. The populace became soft- lazy- immoral- homosexuality was accepted as a normal way of life. Violence and abnormal sexual mores abounded. Sound familiar? Wonder how long this society has. This is for the person that posted a thread up there. Gay people aren't normal. I mean, a man buying girl clothes for himself, is that normal? The way they move or act, compared to the rest I know it ain't normal. Gay people have the highest rates of HIV transmission. If that is "normal" than I'm weird! If it is so "normal" why isn't it so easily accepted?

I mean.....can't get that desperate. If gay marriage gets legalized, there's going to be problems for sure. I'm 1 out of a couple of millions of people that will oppose this. And I strongly urge everyone to vote against gay marriages. If they're gay keep it to yourself. I really makes the environment look distastful. Honestly, I've been to SF and I see groups of gays, very bad for tourists. The scenery just looks wrong. I'm not going to say sh*t to gay people but I'm just saying....

Never said I was normal. The word normal as many words, has a broad meaning to it. Whats normal for one person can be weird for another. I know I'm not normal, but you should view my definition of normal. To me, normal means partically in behavior. What I do, millions of people are probably doing so at the same moment. Having a reptile is normal, as millions of people probably have one at the moment. What isn't normal is, a guy going out and buying women's clothes for himself, I know there aren't "millions" of people doing that! If gay people are so proud of themselves, why do many of them keep it a secret...

Cause they aren't proud thats why. Even they think it is a bit odd in some cases. Why do you think so many aren't openly gay? I know there are probably millions of gay people out there, but you don't see it as a common thing in MOST places. Oh yeah, the reason why homosexuality comes up is because our population is really high. Check it out on animals, they kind of do the same thing when their population is high. Its a last resort! If everyone was really NORMAL, than our civilization is doomed to begin with. Normal is a technicality that can't be defined with one definition.

just because a man buys women's clothing doesnt make them gay. i buy them and wear women's clothing. i wear fishnet hoses on a regular basis. i guess its a goth thing. i even wear makeup about everyday. but i will be the first to tell you... there isnt a gay streak in me at all. i just dress a little weird for some people. as a matter of fact me and the rest of the people in my band would make other bands like marilyn manson, slipknot, and mudvayne look like little catholic school girls. there isnt a gay member in our band. i hate it when poeple look at someone that is a guy with makeup on and they automatically think they are gay. tell me this... how many gaay people do you see that wear women's clothing and makeup? not many. most of them you couldn't tell them apart from the rest of the crowd. im not saying gay people dont in fact wear this stuff.. but most do not. if you dont like it, just turn your head the other way or change the channel or whatever you have to do. violence isnt going to do a damn thing but get you in jail.

How sad... some of the stuff I've been reading. Did God not make everyone? Who are you to judge his decission? And why do you insist that there can be only one type of male, and one type of female, when there are many different types. In my family alone, there are three different types of girls. I am a tom boy... and even wear jeans and T-shirts (which was considered boys cloths many years ago). I love hot rods, working on engines, training horses, ranch work, wrestling, roughing it, fishing, camping out, and the list of boyish things go on. On the other hand, my sister would never do these sorts of things. She's into the fancy nails and girly hairdo's and domestic things. My Mom was a little of each, though a lot less tomboyish then I am. And none of us would think of being with another girl. I've seen different types of guys too. Those who like to cook, or wear dresses, or do domestic things, or hunt, work on cars, boy things and girl things. So who's to say what is normal. It's a hormone thing and no one has control over it, and it can't be chosen. I know I couldn't be all girly and like it. I tried and it just wasn't me, as I'm sure a lot of gays have tried not to be gay. And being gay is just someone who has extra hormones of the opposite sex is all, and even they have different degrees of it. The real queeny ones, the less then queeny ones... geesh. There really isn't a normal in either sex. And by the way, for the person who said that people who own reptiles are normal... well there are a lot of people who will not agree with you.

Anyway... if people would just except the fact that we all were made by God, and no matter what color, sex, or amount of hormones we have that make us act the way we act, that we all must follow the same rules and therefore we should all have the same rights. And as far as those gays that choose to stay in the closet, it's probably because of how they are treated when then come out. And for anyone that holds a resentment against gays remember this.... having a resentment is like YOU taking poison and waiting for the other person to die. So do what God asked you to do and love EVERYONE that he has created.
