Cricket Question

idahosox Aug 16, 2008 09:58 AM

I have sucessfully incubated my first batch of crickets, I am using a big plastic container on a heat pad, however the second batch is started to get mold spots in it. what should I do to make sure no mold grows in it? I am using eco earth for the breeding container they seemed to like it best, could I possibly microwave the fiber before using it to get rid of anything? it does have alot of humidity in it and I do open the lid and close it to help not sure that is even correct. can anyone help me out on this? thanks

I'm using peat moss for my crickets and it had mold in it only once. So, I removed the mold every time it appeared, and the eggs hatched anyways and they seemed ok. There's mold when your substrate is too wet. Try not to put too much water in it so it is humid but not soaked. Hope this helps.
Good luck
