Another hurrcane is expected to hit on thursday.

I called the Hilton and they ARE allowing cancellations of rooms due to the hurricane.

You know - Rana draytonii use to be Rana aurora draytonii because they look extremely similar to Rana aurora (what use to be Rana aurora aurora) it turns out that Rana aurora is closer to Rana cascadae than it is to Rana draytonii.

well a lot of people did not go in 2004 and so did some vendors.

Vendors and people that live in Florida that went in 2004 got their collections blown away while they were at the expo instead of staying home to secure things. I wonder how this will effect the outcome this year.

I would hate to be stuck on the road from the torrential rains and wind storms before the thing even hits.

Wayne should have had it last weekened on the 16th like he normally does. I don't know why he chose to have it a week later this year.

I was looking at it from the I'll be there come hell or high water attitude but I do remember some people at the show in 2004 who's home was torn up while they were at the show. One guy I talked to had his house pretty much totally destroyed friday night and he was at the show saturday still having to run his booth.
I was just watching the weather channel and it looks like folks on the south west coast could have a serious problem, including people coming to the show from the south but it might not be too bad for people coming from the north other than lots of rain. At this point the storm is very disorganized although they think it should get worse after crossing Cuba.
I wish the best for everyone.

I know from experience that you CAN have a killer time during a hurricane at Daytona haha! The situation can be serious, and I heard some terrible stories of misfortune but for the most part Charley was just not that bad. I had a great time. I may leave a day early and get myself a good bit closer but still plan on arriving Thursday early after noon.

Katrina wasnt much when it formed off the south east coast of Fl. and then came ashore and sat on top of my fish farm all night then went south to scare Key West and turned north and rolled up in a tight donut and headed for Louisiana and Mississippi

sorry i dont have a before pic

You guys will be so enthralled with great snakes, and great commraderie, that you won't even notice the weather outside.

At this point, it should be well through the state by Thursday. So people coming in Friday or Saturday should be fine. But like Bluerosy pointed out it, if it does damage to breeders home, etc. that could affect attendance. But as far as the actual storm causing travel problems it should be well over by then.

If you want to follow the latest, Google “Crown Weather” and click on “Fay”. (http://www.crownweather.com/fay.html)
This is the grand daddy of all weather sites we rely on for tropical weather info down here. They have radar out of Cuba, Key West, Miami, Tampa, Melbourne, Jacksonville, etc. You can track every rain cloud as this thing comes and goes through Daytona. Some models are showing this thing crossing Florida and making a hard left turn and crossing back over towards the gulf by the end of the week. I think you will be o.k. to travel and stay in Daytona by the weekend. No offense meant, but Florida this weekend will be better than where most of you are now! Come on down.
