Genetic Stripe PH proves out

BARSaintPete Aug 17, 2008 01:44 PM

Nothing is more satisfying than having a long-term project finally prove out. Purchased a 50% het male from Exotics by Nature in '03, bred the male to 1 female. Only hatched 3 females from a clutch of 8, but kept all three. Proved out the male and at least one of his daughters are 100%. Have another clutch due to hatch in next week that I always thought would be the female that would prove as she has similar markings to the father, very slight hint of ringer. Nice odds, ended up with 2 genetic stripes from het to het out of 5 egg clutch. Here's to long term projects working out!!!

Sweet deal. I'm hoping to hatch out some Super lemon pastels from father to daughter breedings in two years.

Nice job!

Good luck. Very happy with the two that hatched. Both very clean, no breaks on the female and a couple on the male. Can hardly wait for this next clutch to hatch. Wish I believed in cutting but I just don't think it's worth the risk.

congrats!!!........you can't beat a g-stripe. They are way underated. Now you gotta start thinking about what other projects you want you want to plug them into!

Thanks. Agree that they're underrated. Wish we were staying in the business but have been holding off putting entire collection up for sale on the off chance that these would prove out. Sold off most of collection last season and held on to these and a couple other projects. Glad we did. Would have ended up selling 1.3 adults as normals.

Thats awsome it gives me hope for my project. I bought a 100% het Bell line Desert Ghost male from Patrick Powers at Prehistoric Pets early in 07 and had 1 female that I really didnt even think was going to go but she did and laid me 5 eggs. Out of the 5 eggs I got 1 male and 4 females so I got rid of the male in a clutch of normals and held back all 4 females. They are all in about the 600 gram range and should hopefully go next breeding season. But on top of that I bred him to 4 females this year and now have 11 more 50% poss het girls to breed him to in a few years. So Im hoping the market doesnt take a steaming $hite on that project, seeing as how its still pretty rare and a recessive I dont think it will. But BTW nice looking g-stripe

You know I love seeing people prove out possible hets from snakes they purchased from the breeders. Seeing a breeders name up there that sold possible hets to someone who proved them out gives them credibility. Of course not all possible hets prove out to be hets but I think you get what I am saying. It also sugggest that you do not have to give away possible hets for nothing as half of them are true hets. Any ways congratulations on seeing the project through to the end.
