Breeding question

mutant Feb 07, 2003 09:39 AM

Hey

If i bred a 100% Het Albino Male to a 66% poss het female, and some of the babies were albino, that would make the rest of the offspring 100% hets right?

But if there were no albino offspring, as the female was a 'dud', would this mean that the resulting offspring were all 100% hets, or some normals and some hets??

Cheers for your help

Lee

Even if you end up with an albino, there is a 25% chance that you will end up w/ normal babies. They would be considered 66% poss hets. If the female is a "dud" you would have 50% poss hets. check out the advanced genetics wizard for figuring this stuff out! http://www.geneticswizard.com/default.asp

"If you bred a 100% het male to a 66% poss. het female and albinos resulted "
That would mean the rest of the babies (normal looking) would be 66% het albino. However it would also mean that that 66% het female is now 100% het.

"If the female turned out to be a dud (ie. not het)"
the babies would all be 50% poss. het albino. However, just because albinos didn't pop out doesn't necessarily mean that she is a dud. You may have just missed the albinos.
