baby balls wont eat

fantasyxbabygurl Aug 17, 2008 11:34 PM

I got 2 balls on the 3rd and ive tried to feed a few times but not getting anywhere. I got them both from different breeders. They both told me they were feeding on hopper mice. Since i dont have a way to get live hoppers i have frozen, ive never had much problem switching my snakes from live to frozen assuming they breeder was using live. Ive had a boa, and corn snakes before... One of them i got to strike at one while i dangled it by his head but he wont accually take it, the other wont even look interested she just tries to go around it to another section of the tank. Puting them in a smaller container doesnt work, leaving it in there cage over night doesnt work. its been two weeks and im getting a little nervous.... ive read about force feeding but id really rather not try if theres any other way...

Mine is the same way. He was in shed when I got him from a local breeder and hasn't eaten at all since I've had him which means about 2 months of no food. I took him to the vet, he said he wasn't too concerned yet though. Just leave different kinds of food in the cage overnight - frozen/thawed rodents, live (as long as it's a fuzzy or pinky, go with rats they are more nutritious if you have a choice), scented with anoles or gerbils, etc.

If you can get a wet poop sample bring it to a vet in a plastic bag and have them test it for parasites and what not. That could be the cause. In most states (in NJ and NY at least) you can get an "unfit for sale" document from a vet if the animal is sick upon purchase, check with yours though.
