Feeder cup question?

Chameleon996 May 23, 2003 07:24 PM

My two veileds both eat out of feeder cups but now I have a problem. Yesterday my female rode her cup to the bottom of her cage. She is fine. I wiggle the cups down into their plants but my chams are getting to heavy for this to continue working. One sits in the middle of a ficus and the other sits at the bottom of a hanging pothos.

I am open to suggestions on how to secure the feeder cups. I have thought about hanging them or attaching them to the sides of the cages. Any suggestions are welcome.

If the "cups" are plastic, drill,or poke holes in the sides. Then use wire and/or small hooks like xmas-tree ornaments to secure them.Be careful not to leave sharp points that could snag skin!!!Other things to use could be Zip-ties(plastic-automtive;MANY uses and dont rust, all colors avalable to chose from and very safe, don't rust)or wire breadbag ties.Hope this helps!STNMAN/HD-TECH

I drilled a deli cup to the vertical side of a branch in my giant leaf-tail gecko's cage. I'm possibly obtaining 3 chams in the future and I will try the same method to atttach a feeder cup to a branch. The only down side I have found so far is you have to take the nail out and redrill it if water collects in the cup. What I did to solve this problem is drill a hole at the bottom of the deli cup for water to drip out. Hope that gives you an idea!

A plastic container like a food storage tupperware thing or deli cup with 2 holes in it for a wire to fit through and tie it to the plant or cage works for me. I sometimes also use a big pyrex style measuring cup and loop the handle over a branch or vine and tie it in place. Or wire the handle to the side of the cage.
At first I was worried they would try to shoot the crickets through the glass but they seemed to know not to do that and they just come over the top and get them the right way.
