TEXAS HERPERS! Last 2 days for comment!

jeffb Aug 19, 2008 08:00 AM

You can make public comments regarding the latest revisions to Texas Non-Game regs only until 5:00pm tomorrow. We intend to reply regarding several issues including the continued inclusion of the Common Garter Snake at a species level and the unwarranted inclusion of virtually every non-game mammal in the state on the black list.

I just sent mine in electronically from the link.
It was 15 full windows. Mostly good, I'd say.
Just a few questions and suggestions.
Sure hope they got them.

No financial harship? Who are they kidding? Matt Wagner makes assumption after assumption. What a joke. My comments have been made. Any of you who may have wanted to work with species on the "Black List" but don't have the knowledge about collecting or the funds to do so need to make a comment. Also businesses that are hurt by these new rules including researchers need to let TPWD know that the "Black List" is ridiculous and it has caused your business a financial hardship.

I am glad they changed the reporting period for "Black Listed" animals and are now allowing the sale of CB offspring after I complied with their new rules and sold my box turtle collection. Thanks TPWD. Thanks alot for your knee jerk reaction and pushing an AR agenda. Because after all, I have seen NO DATA for any of your new rules!!!!

They did the same thing to the Grayband market. Destroyed it, along with the market for all the other Texas Colubrids, when they first started the Non-game thing, back in the late 90's.
I had no idea they had rescinded all those requirements until I saw one of their stellar Wildlife Biologist peddling baby Graybands at my local Herp Shop. When I incredulously asked the proprietor how the TP&W Biologist could so casually sell those things...Oh, they dropped all those species from the regulations, was his reply.
I'm not real sure if the Biologist fella ever made the connection between TP&W's [his] actions and my Friend's lack of interest in his progeny.
Oh well.
