Anyone using the ARS Boa size racks?..

BobS Aug 19, 2008 03:04 PM

For Colubrids? They have the 26"x33", 26"x33"x9"H, 52"x33" and the 31"x39" large Vision Tub models. What do you think of them? Experiences?

They don't use slides like their 9006 series, I havn't gotten word from Brian if this has any effect.

I did inquire about the strength of their current 8000 series and Brian assured me they are more than capable of handleing animals with a bioactive substrate requirement.

I myself use an ARS rack.

Thanks! nice pic. Bioactive? The 8018s like you have are some of the ones I'm trying to check out at Daytona if the weather holds. What are your thoughts on using them for Kings/corns etc since you have them on hand? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks again,
Bob

Its been a long time since I kept a colubrid, but they would handle large adults nicely.

I myself use paper substrate and keep 4' Boa's in them. Males!

If you wanted substrate they would still be great for everything even hatchlings. They don't flex the gap is about 1/8" and the holes in the top are about the same as a #2 pencil about 1/4".

I'm using the built in bowl feature for the 7030's man that is a great feature.

I also went with 6" E grade heat.

Bioactive substrate is basically living soil. Not true like mother nature but long lasting like in vivarium's. Only have to do substrate changes every year or so.

I did the research for Chris, never forwarded the info though...LOL

Cheers

Wow, thanks Jeremy. Whats the plastic on the windowed ones like? Vision cage type plastic? Or thin/hard like the old Neodeshas? It looks GREAT! I love to be organized. How do you use the cup holder and paper substrate?

Bighurt Aug 19, 2008 06:09 PM

Brian has his tubs made by a local manufacture, far stronger than standard tubs. I have never seen a vision tub so I can't say but the CB-70's are sturdy as hell. Wouldn't break if you dropped it. Unlike the actual Iris tubs...

The windowed ones are just as durable, very strong. I think they are actual polyethelene like Vision cages...don't quote me on that.

As for paper and built in bowls, I've gotten good at cutting paper!! It's actually easy...
