Please Help! Hermann's Tort Swollen Tail

MsTinaTurtle Aug 19, 2008 09:53 PM

Hi folks,

My 5 year old Hermann's is eating well, active, stool looks normal, gets soaked/bathed regularly, but her tail looks swollen under the anal area. Her third eyelids are showing.

I did not see any bugs or anything in her enclosure.

Any idea of what could this be?

Thank you in advance,

Hi, is she kept with a male? If so he might be "annoying the area" with his advances.

Hi Carole,

No, she is by herself in her habitat. I've been checking on her and so far the tail seems doing better but very stubby.

I am guessing she is a female because of the plastron/short tail but I might be wrong.
I'll try to post a picture soon.

Have a good one,

MsT
