picky eater?

bloodsrock21 Aug 20, 2008 12:08 AM

Hey guys I have one female pastel that has refused every meal that I offered. Live adult mouse twice in 2 weeks and I tried F/T twice and still unsucessful. I know one month isnt long enough to get paranoid. I Just wanted to see what methods you guys have tried to get yours to eat. I have more expierence with bloods obviously and large boas as well. I will post pictures of my babies once I can find the damn usb cable for my camera. Thanks in advance.

I used to have a picky eater, but realized that he wanted mice not rats.... Try a small rat of appropriate size.. Either that, or just give her some time. i had a female who just was way too stressed out. I got her from a breeder where she was in racks, and she went into an aquarium at my home. I had to cover her with a dark sheet for 2 weeks until she started eating again. I wouldn't be too concerned about a month though... she may be going into a fast early this year... Good luck!

Thanks guys. I was gonna try the gerbil in a few days. I have 8 ball pythons which I got them to feed within 4 days I recieved them. None has refused a meal except for one. I think she is just stressed. I have got them all in serilite tupperware hatchlings in 15 qt while adults are in 32 right now. I just hate it when they reject food grunts ha. Thanks guys have a good one.

Hey Rich I have had a couple picky eaters! If you try frozen thawed, get a heating pad from rite-aid and set the rat on say a plastic tub lid. If you have a temp gun get the mouse or rat up to about 98 or so. Give that a try. I have had alot of picky eaters and most of the time I know it sounds weird but they like a nice hot meal! Especially adults! Just something to try! Good luck!
