Hey everyone,
I'm new here. Posted a message or two not long ago. I just wanted to tell you all about my new arrivals. Three beautiful girls and one male with a lot of attitude. They arrived about a week ago and are all settled in and healthy. The females are eating like pigs. I've seen the male pick off a few crickets but he seems to be a picky eater! I was worried about dehydration, so I've soaked them about every other day in plastic "Critter Keeper" boxes. That seems to have really done them well, especially the girls who are very active. The girls run and hop around a lot. I've even seen one run standing on her back legs. They can do that because I've given them a very spacious home. They are absolutely beautiful. One of the girls is very light with lots of yellow throughout. She's gonna be a real looker when she grows a little! Another one of the girls has beautiful shades of chocolate brown! Maybe I should call her Hershey!
I love their personalities and their antics! I've tried to keep handling to a minimum, but when I needed to handle them I was amazed at how docile they are. They cling to my hand and look at me with a smile! (I know that's anthropomorphic, but I swear they smile)
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you all that reading the archives of this forum has been absolutely invaluable. I'm certain that all your discussions and advice have helped get my collared project off to a great start. Thank you so much!
Just a few things about myself. My name is John, but many of my friends call me hayseed. Some of them call me other names! I live in the middle of nowhere in Ohio. I'm a Biochemistry professor at Miami University. My greatest passion is my animals and especially my reptiles. I've kept reptiles scince I was a child and I've never lost my passion for them. I've usually been partial to the "legless ones", my snakes. But I've developed a real love for lizards now...seeing what I had been missing. I think the collareds are fast becoming my favorites!
I'll try and get some pictures.
Thanks all!
