Here are a few of the wanderings my family & I found today in the Highwood Mountains, notice how much darker the are then the ones I usually post from Cascade Co. Here are some habitat shots too. Enjoy!

Thanks,

You're in the Great Falls area? No wonder you always have such gorgeous habitat pictures! We visited a couple of years ago and simply loved the area! I agree, beautiful family! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Beautiful pics Dan. Now that's what I call God's Country.
That's a good looking t-shirt your wearing with the snakes on it. I have the exact same shirt. Does your shirt have any writing on it? Mine says Maymont, meaning Maymont Park located in Richmond, VA.

Perhaps they're darker as an adaptation to the cooler temps up in the mountains? If you look at the Parietalis of the Canadian Narcisse snake dens, they barely have any red on them at all. They are mostly black with the yellow dorsal stripes. Totally unlike the red-sideds of the lower states.

Yea, I'm pretty sure thats the case.

Urrrrg.....you're killing me with those photos! Red-Sideds always were one of my faves.

Dan,
Once again great photos of some beautiful country. I showed the photo of you to my wife and we both laughed, because you and I could probably pass as brothers. I am clean shaven right now but I usually grow some sort of hair on my face in the fall or winter, so I dug up this pic from last fall with the buck I arrowed with my bow (sorry for the off-topic pic) anyone else see the resemblance? lol
