My Cali King

huggnkiss Aug 22, 2008 07:01 PM

Smiley is his name and he is banana yellow and a light coco brown banded with a smiley face on the top of his head, hence the name. I want to put a pic up on here of him so someone can tell me what his colors are called since there are so many names and varieties of them. Can anyone first of all tell me how to put a pic on here please?

upload the image to a website (you can use photobucket)

Then put in a UBB image link - |open bracket|img|close bbracket|http://yoursite.com/image.jpg|open bracket|/img|close bracket|

Ok I think I got this!

Thanks for the advice, I'm kinda new here.

Nice snake. Is it wild, or captive-produced?

huggnkiss Aug 23, 2008 01:49 PM

It is captive produced. My sis is a traveling manager for a chain of pet stores, yeah I know they can be horible, but they couldn't sell him cuz he was biting everyone. Well, when she told me about him, I had seen him when he first came into the store and was interested but I didn't want to pay the price they wanted for him. 6 months later they still couldn't sell him so they told her I could have him if I wanted a biting snake. LOL funny thing is that from the time I picked him up he has never even tried to bite me. I think a nice home and a good handler makes a big difference as opposed to people poking at the glass and being underfed. I would try to eat anything that came in my cage also. He is such a sweetie that he even falls asleep on my hand now. Yeah, I handle him quite a bit and he has a very nice home, so to say a happy snake leaves a happy owner. : )

That's a very nice looking king. I'm no expert with all these different morphs, but it could be a "blue eyed blond". I think they are supposed to have red pupils like this one. It could also be the flash. Does the snakes eyes turn red under the sun or in bright light? If so its probably a blue eyed blond.

tricolorbrian Aug 23, 2008 02:33 PM

Blue-eyed" blonde with "red" eyes...hmmm....lol

RossCA Aug 23, 2008 02:45 PM

Ok, I went up to take a close up of his head no flash and what do ya know he is opaque so not happening today. I'll post one after he sheds in a few days. Thanks for all the good input though. Still excited to find out.

It just might be and if so you just got a 150$ snake for free!

RossCA Aug 23, 2008 07:56 PM

Yeah, I had to really look at it too before I decided it might be a BEB. It looks a little too dark in some areas but that could be due to the lighting in the house. If the picture was taken outside, it would be a lot easier to tell. There's also light colored call kings in San Diego County that are not BEB but look almost identical to that. Hubbs knows that but he's going to make us by his book before he starts talking about this stuff again.

FunkyRes Aug 23, 2008 08:40 PM

There are some that look like BEB but are different mutation.

Yeah, I think I remember hearing you might need to know the history on the snakes to tell the difference. Don't lavenders look like BEB's?

huggnkiss Aug 24, 2008 12:31 AM

I guess we will just have to wait and see after he sheds and I will go outside and take a pic for ya to settle the dust. Check back in a couple of days. Thanks for all your advice though guys it's great.
