Hatchrite and Kemps incubator

patd Aug 22, 2008 09:14 PM

The last two years I have had my pyro and grayband eggs get moldy. I have used vermiculite and a hovabator which I used successfully for gecko and turtle eggs in the past. Snake eggs seem to be more tricky to hatch.
Has anybody used hatchrite or the Kemps Juragon incubator and what did you think of them? I know they are a lot more expensive but I am thinking it may be worth it if my eggs hatch. I know they were fertile because I cut open the eggs and there were developed snakes inside. Thanks

i have never used that incubator so i can't comment on that other than i have looked at it and it seems a bit pricey.. i did use hatchrite last season with a few of my alterna clutches and saw no difference (bad or good) in hatch rates at all...

Thanks for the info Mike. The hatchrite seemed very dry to the touch, did you add water to it or just use it right out of the bag? I guess if you have to add water it defeats the purpose of it.

I had to add water to it...
