Normal-patterned Silver & Silver Blonde

dustyrhoads Aug 23, 2008 02:39 AM

I disturbed the amorous mood here to snap a couple of pics and to show the difference between these two amazing morphs -- a Normally Patterned Silver and a Trumbower Silver Blonde. The beauty of these two morphs is breathtaking. It's incredible how silvery white those Trumbowers are, and I love the look of a normal-patterned animal with that electric color.

And here's the sultry lady who's on the front cover of The Complete Suboc with her first clutch. She's a very nice yellow Blonde that's Het for Silver and 50% poss. Het for Snow. She bred with the Bleached Blonde, who's also possible Het Snow. Five good eggs. A sixth egg looks iffy. Couldn't be happier with her first reproductive effort.

It'll be interesting to see the colors of their offspring. A lot of possibilities.

I broke my own rule with her...she's still under two years of age but VERY large for her size. I usually wait to breed females when they're in their third or fourth year, but I took a calculated risk with her and it's paid off nicely...she's done me proud.

Thanks for looking!

Wow, both are stunning Dusty. Normals, blondes, & of course, silvers, are all gorgeous animals.

Thank you. Yes I agree, I can't think of a more stunning Axanthic in any species. Trans-Pecos are just so all-around amazing.

Thanks again,

Ha! I guess we'll find out. Sometimes my mouthwatering response -- just admiring my snakes' beauty -- takes over...regardless of the consequences.

>>Nice job Dusty. She is a real looker man and yes she has all kinds of potential man.I sure hope her and the sire pan out for you bud.

Thanks, Shannon. Yeah, definitely potential. The sire is 66% Het Axanthic and 66% poss. Het Amel, so that means 44.4% poss. Het Snow Blonde. The dam is 50% poss. Het Snow Blonde, so combined that is a little better than a 22% chance of throwing a Snow Blonde (someday). Now, I have no idea if the Bleached Blonde appearance is just a play on polygenic inheritance or if it's something else. Time will tell. He sure is different though. I've never seen a "normal" Blonde that white.

Thanks, man. If I come, I might need a spot with you. I am doing the ETHS show in Houston the very week after the NARBC, so I might not come to SoCal this year??? September is so busy.

Dusty

Great shots of some beautiful snakes, Dusty. I especially like the last one which shows the head scalation so well. Good luck with the eggs.

Thanks, Terry. Yeah, I love the smooth porcelain-like appearance of a TPRS's face. Such neat scalation. No other colubrid outside of rosaliae comes close.

Cheers!
