Best I can do...

I'm actually a little embarrassed to even post this after the barrage of awesome pics Dan KEEPS posting, but I gotta do what I gotta do.

Got a call this AM about this guy in a neighborhood backyard... guess they didn't want their kids playing with it- go figure.

Thanks.

No- haven't tried, but tonight I might try one of the 1000's of Mediterranean geckos we have all over the place here.

Not going to keep it- will cut it loose tomorrow...

Nice, is that a Texas Coral?

Br8knitOFF Aug 23, 2008 07:58 PM

Yes- Texas Coral Snake.

SOOOO tempting to free handle this thing- it's SOOOO docile.

I've been handling him with one free hand and the one with the welders glove, but no way worth a bite to take the one glove off.

Todd, did it drink? lizard and snake eater that is but you can always try a pinkie or fuzzie. Make sure you relocate that in an area that has some water, or bottom land creek associated place, you know, leaf litter they need a little moisture, especially in the mulch around gardens, DOH! I think this is why you guys around Austin see so many in the city/suburbs.

I didn't see it drink, but gave it a bowl of water when I brought it home. I was going to offer it something to eat, but last night when I went to check on it, it was gone. Wife freaked and yelled at me for keeping it inside the house.

I did find it- was hidden under the water bowl, but I had very little aspen in there with it, so I figured I could just look underneath the sterilite to see if it was hiding under the bowl.

After some searching around the house frantically, I decided to lift the water bowl up... DOH.

Took it down to the lake and let it go in the tall grass along the lakes edge... tons of frogs, rodents and other reptile fauna living down there- should do well, as long as some butt-monkey doesn't kill it.
