ventilation and air flow

nygaboon Sep 04, 2003 07:46 PM

I just bought a "tropical aire humidifier and air exchanger" (I realize now that i could have built one myself for nothing but that's another story) So anyway it promotes air exchange and humidity. I bought it to ventillate my dumpy tank and regulate the humidity. Has anyone ever used one of these before? I'm trying to create good airflow as the enclosure is a very tall hex with no cross ventillation. any input?

For my GTP. He's in a 24 x 24 x 24 plastic cage. I had to buy a larger airpump than the one I ordered the unit with, though. I now use the largest TetraTec aquarium pump.

I closed up all the cage vents except for a small opening which I need to keep condensation from forming on the inside of the plexiglass door.

You can't go wrong with a large airpump.

Get a hygrometer and measure the humidity in your cage so you know what you're working with. Depending on the size of your cage you may need to play with the vents a bit.

Regards,

Bill
