The monitor will grow out of that too fast for it to be worth it. Even the biggest ones are not big enough.

Actually they are worth it and work quite well. I rescently kept two small niles in one for about a month and a half, enough time for me to build a descent mid sized cage for them at my leisure. The two grew rapidly in it. Both were about nine inches when I put them in and nearly double that size when I moved them to the new cage. They are now pushing three feet at four months of age.

I already explained to you how I converted the storage tub on the other forum so no need to get into that again.

I used a 50 gal rubbermaid for my baby Blackthroat. It worked just long enough for me to get his perminant 10X6X4 cage built. They can keep in the humidity well and provide visual security for an already stressed animal.

Ive used cages built from clear containers like those (the largest size) for newly hatched ackies, and beardies, but nothing larger. In fact when the ackies grew to about 6 inches long they were already in their next cage (a 4x2x2ft).
A medium sized monitor 11.5 inches would be a few inches shy of the length of the inside of the largest container like those (I have one just like that picture in the add (my old BT came in it, only for transportation to home and into an adequate cage).
The only container I know of that that would make a decent raise upcage for that size of monitor is a Reptile tub thats 4.5ft by 2ft by almost 2ft high, even that would be too small in no time at all.
