Talk about a late start....

I see most T.P.R. breeders have eggs on the ground by now and mine have just started to breed.
A few weeks ago he was very interested in the girls but they were both in shed,so I waited until they shed then my male went into shed and wanted nothing to do with the girls.
Last night he finally shed and I put him in with a female and he hooked up within 20 minutes. He is working on girl#2 today.
At this rate I will be hatching eggs well into our cold Pa. winter time!Oh, well I'll take it.

Good luck with those.
Will you have blonds this year, or just hets?

Just hets.this year.
I held back 1.2 of last years hets. and the male is a really contrasty grey phase.I was going to purchase a blonde male if I saw one at the Hamburg show but I did not see any at the few shows I made it to.I'm in no hurry, just a hobby for me, so I guess I'll make my blondes the fun way, from hets. and het. to blonde.
Something I also think about(and the reason I held back 1.2) is my proven female blonde is a former Mark Bell animal and I know that he also worked with silvers so it would be nice to possibly see some silvers pop out somewhere down the line.

Good luck with those. I would think you could work with babies in the winter. If they refuse to eat you could just brumate them. I've had baby ratsnakes (not subocs) that I've fed up until January, then brumated for a few weeks...

Would be interested in how it goes...also pics of eggs, hatchlings, etc. Thanks...

I have two that are getting ready to have their pre-lay shed. One is clearing up and should she any day now. The other is just turning blue. This actually follows pretty closely the pattern I've noticed in the past.

My pair have been going at it for the past two weeks. She was refusing him last week, now she's diggin' on him!

Same here my female hasn't been receptive but she shed last night so I'm going to try one last time.

Don't feel bad, Mike. They're just living up to their name. I've got female(s) that just showed interest recently too.

Let us know what happens.

I just returned from Daytona to find a clutch of 6. I was stoked to say the least.
