After nine years of working with this line, I have been rewarded with five baby albino helleri. Some of you have been anxiously waiting along with me, and here are the results. On the 13th, one of my hetero pairs produced 11 young of which two were albino. On the 15th, another pair had 9 young and three were albino. That makes a total of 5 albino out of 20. Perfect homozygous recessive trait expectation of 1 out of 4. One died two days after birth (why???) I have four left and preliminary sexing shows two males and two females. I usually wait until the first shed before I try to feed. Out of curiosity I tried to feed earlier. One of the males ate about 5 days after birth.
These babes are very pink. They should lighten up with age and become almost all white like the father.
